Bao Loc

Hello, my friends. I'm "Bao Loc", a native of Saigon, and I have a deep love for my city. Living here with my family — my wonderful wife, Bich, and our sons, Kaka (15 years old) and Messi (10 years old) — brings me immense joy. I founded Xin Chao Private Vietnam Tours in 2008, and since then, I've been fortunate to work with an amazing team, offering the best experiences of Saigon and Vietnam to my clients.

My journey as a tour guide began in 2005 when I worked at a local restaurant in downtown Saigon. I started helping travelers with Vietnamese language and navigating the city. Word spread, and I soon found myself assisting businesspeople and expats as well.

In 2008, I traveled with professors from Michigan University to evaluate a charity project. They enjoyed my hospitality and suggested I work as a freelance guide. This led to more opportunities, and I became recommended on TripAdvisor by satisfied customers.

I continually studied and traveled with my customers, offering customized tours throughout Vietnam. In 2015, I met Lara who helped me create a business page on TripAdvisor, and I changed the name to Xin Chao Private Vietnam Tours in 2017.

In 2020, the tourism industry was hugely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. I and my team successfully launched the “Gobooyaa” application within 15 months, helping free and independent travelers book private transportation better.

Until the present day, my continuous aspiration has been to provide customers with the most unique and memorable authentic experiences, spanning from the North to the South.

I spent three weeks in Vietnam with Xin Chao Private Vietnam Tours. This company provided me with a custom-designed tour to photograph rice terraces and minority villages that went above and beyond the standard tourist itinerary. My guide Loc provided unforgettable experiences and cultural connections, in both the mountainous north, and the Mekong Delta. Loc understood my desire to see less-touristy areas. We went to places that few tourists visit, but that were completely amazing and breathtaking. Loc had an exceptional way of breaking the ice with local people in the less-visited areas. The people were unfailingly friendly, and many times invited us into their homes for tea. Hanoi, with its Old Quarter, was vibrant with food and culture. The enthusiasm they have for touring (and photography!) really is extraordinary. My husband and I used this company for a 2 week private tour of Vietnam from Ho Chi Minh City all the way to Hanoi and beyond. It was an unforgettable experience that was surprisingly affordable. We learned about Loc and his tour company through friends who had booked a similar tour a couple of years prior. Every detail was taken care of. The only thing we had to do was book our flight to Vietnam and Loc took care of all the rest. His company booked all of our hotels, tours, intra-country flights and drivers. He was even waiting for us at the airport when we arrived. We experienced things we never would have found on our own. We went to restaurants that didn't have a single westerner in them; we had lunch at a restaurant in someone's backyard in the Mekong delta; we went to a small fish market in central Vietnam where we watched fish being bought right from the boat. We booked the mid-tier package so we were shocked at how nice all of the hotels were. They all had large, modern and comfortable rooms with excellent AC. We had a motorbike tour to 4 different restaurants in Ho Chi Minh, a country-side motorbike tour in Hoi An, saw countless temples and pagodas, hiked through the jungle, and even did an overnight cruise in Halong Bay. We had many encounters with locals thanks to Loc. He knew that our goal was to experience the culture so that's how he targeted our tour. He will customize each tour according to your preferences. I really do want to emphasize that this tour was surprisingly reasonably priced. We encountered a group taking a bus tour that followed the same basic path as our tour. Their tour was two days shorter and most of the excursions were "extra". The base cost of that tour was the same price as our longer, all inclusive private tour.
